So many people make a resolutions to get healthy.  They usually state their resolution in terms of weight lose but I don’t believe thin = healthy.  Not just because I have a few extra pounds myself but because I’ve hired trainers that have been surprised at my strength then proceeded to tell me of individuals whom they have worked with that didn’t have any muscle because all they focused on was not eating calories.

There’s truly a better way.  Making sure you are eating the proper foods to support your body is crucial.  Eating is the foundation for our health and our choices of what we eat are is critical.

One thing I do know and I have a hard time sometimes with it, is we should eat at least 6 serving of veggies a day.  You will want a variety of colors in your veggies because they provide different nutrients.  Leafy greens are great to add to the mix and that’s what gives green smoothies the color.  If you choose to get your vegetables through a smoothie make sure the “sweetness” comes from fruit to keep  it healthy.  Also realize if you don’t like it at first eat/drink small amounts of healthy eat day and your body will adjust.  I hated mushrooms as a child and now I love fresh ones.

Another thing that I find very helpful in getting healthy is taking vitamins.  I take DoTerra’s supplements because over the years I have tried MANY brands and none of them have made me feel as good as I do when I take theirs.  Because foods have been altered so much we don’t get the nutrition we need through our food.  Try to eat organic as much as possible. This will help with nutrition but like I said your body needs more.

Remember as you strive to reach your new year’s resolution set specific measureable goals so you can see improvement.  Don’t just say I’m going to get healthy set specific goals like “I’m going to run a mile” or “I’m going to increase the weight I can’t lift by 10 lbs” or “I’m goint to eat 6 servings of vegetables 5 days a week”.  Give yourself a time period to accomplish your goals.  make sure that time frame is not too short or long.

Good luck with your goals and may each of you achieve success in 2015
