As we start working on our goals that we set at the beginning of the year we can do great for the first few weeks especially when it comes to fitness.  Gyms and businesses that sell fitness equipment know this and count on it.  They know either the membership or equipment will get used for a month then our commitment to getting healthy seems to dwindle.  Why?

Let me offer a few reasons why and you can decide if it fit you or not.

1. You only focus on one aspect (ie exercise) and you aren’t seeing results as fast as you want.  What happens next?  You start to think things like “this isn’t even worth the effort I put into it and guess what.  You stop exercising because “it wasn’t working anyway and I don’t like to be sore.”

2. You start out the gate at a dead sprint and you really send your body into a painful state and you’re really saying “I DON’T LIKE TO BE SORE!  I CAN’T EVEN MOVE WITHOUT PAIN.” So guess what you stop.  Gradually build up the intensity and duration at which you work out.  Give your body time to adjust.  Pace yourself!  Make sure you don’t skip the warm up or cool down.  This will not only prevent injuries but, will make your workouts more enjoyable.

3. You don’t have anyone to be accountable to.  Successful achievers know that accountability is key.  Find someone that can say it to you straight without you getting offended and bent out of shape.

4.  When changing your diet it’s the same thing as exercise.  If you choose to go crazy and change everything all at once realize you will go through withdrawls and emotional pain.  Have a plan how you are going to deal with these.  I would suggest doing a gentle cleanse using terrazyme and zendocrine capsules to begin with.  This will get your digestive system functioning properly and help your liver detox too.

5.  You never celebrate your accomplishments.  Go celebrate!  No this doesn’t mean go eat a whole chocolate cake by yourself but go do something fun. Buy yourself flowers.  Do something that you enjoy.  If that means eating a PIECE of cake then do that and then eat healthy the rest of the time.

6. You’re too hard on yourself.  Each night I want you to look yourself in the eyes and say “I forgive you”.  Yes you use a mirror to do this.  We all feel like we could have done better but it’s ok.  We don’t have to be perfect.

Enjoy your success.  Have fun.  Love life.
