I have had a few people ask me to post on update on this so here goes.  For most of us this is a never ending journey.  I’m sure that’s the way it will be for me.  My husband and I just had this conversation just the other day.  Creating a lifestyle for good health can be challenging especially in our world of fast food and quick meals.  So what is a solution to all of this.  We live a very busy lifestyle as most of you do.  Besides work we have 4 children playing sports 6 days a week.  Two of them are high schoolers so figuring out this on the go eating has been a challenge to say the least.  So what are some things that I have found that works?

I can prepare healthy snacks like carrots, celery, peppers, olives, and many,many more healthy veggies so they are quick to grab and easy and tasty to eat.  One of the harder things to do is to cut out the dressing.  I now love my vegetables plain.  I enjoy the flavor of the veggies themselves.  Are you surprised?  I was.  I have found if I put an avocado or something a little “creamy” in texture that works just as good.

Have ready made salads and already cooked meats that are sliced and easy to grab.

Know your area.  I have a few favorite places I know I can go to get healthy food that tastes really yummy.  I have a handful of places i can grab food on the go and I know it good for my body.  Sometimes I go to the same place over and over until I get sick of it.

I am not only trying to do this for myself but my family also.  So for my kids I made sure I have apples and string cheese on hand all the time.  I also get fruit leather which I know has sugar in it but it makes me feel better that it has some fruit in it.

For myself I keep humus around.  I think I’m addicted to that because it is so easy to eat and I love it.  You can use veggies to scoop it with or choose a healthier chip or cracker. The chips and crackers you’ll want to watch your portions with.

I love my crock pot too.  It is so easy to put something in there to slowly cook all day and have ready for the kids for dinner on those nights that I will be gone to a ball game.  If I don’t have things prepared they turn to the processed food that is easy to cook and filling but NOT so healthy.  Sorry to say this happens more than I like to admit. 🙁
