Good morning everyone. I had one of those light bulb moments this morning as I was reading. I am a firm believer in personal growth. So here is my thought and a story that was shared with me that validated my thought. Maybe the story fit because I twisted it in my mind , but I hope it makes as much sense to you as it did to me.
Who of you would LOVE to reduce your BMI?
How many of you that responded “yes” to that question ever self sabotage your efforts in lowering it?
I had one of my readers share this experience with me:
Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this
is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
How many to times do we think we are going to start running or eat healthy or whatever else we would do to lower our BMI and then those thoughts of “tomorrow” creep in. Especially if we make a little mistake and fall victim to that candy bar or donut. We tend to jump out of the wagon altogether for some reason. Let me propose that it is our mindset. We have been telling ourselves for so long that
“I’m not strong enough to do this”
“I’m not worth it”
“I never succeed”
“Nobody believes I can really do it anyway.”
These are lies we tell ourselves and guess what our subconscious mind believes it and will help you stay stuck. So with that understanding that’s where we should start with any goal that we set whether it be to make more money, lower your BMI, or improve your relationships. We will want to start with our mindset. How can we do that? Well I have a few tips and one of them you are going to think I am TOTALLY CRAZY.
Let’s start with that one right out of the gate:
It’s called the mirror exercise and I have done this for the last year and a half. What you do is look in the mirror directly into your eyes and say what you need to hear to change the thought patterns you now have. A few examples are:
“You are worthy”
“You are healthy and strong”
“You are beautiful”
“You are capable”
and in my experience the most powerful one
“I FORGIVE YOU!”
You should also tell yourself things like:
“You did great on your workouts”
“Congratulations on eating __ vegetables today”
One last one:
“You are enough”
If you want to increase your success with this put a drop or 2 of each over your heart of bergamot and wild orange. Bergamot helps you believe in and love yourself where your are. Wild orange essential oil is the oil of abundance. There is so much abundance waiting for us to grasp it and this helps us realize how much there is and that we are worthy of it. Increase your success by going to the tab “how to get oils” and get yourself some bergamot and wild orange today.
If you will do this every night before you go to bed this will work on your subconscious self and change your thought patterns. Don’t worry about this feeling weird because for most of us we have never really looked into our own eyes let alone said positive things to ourselves.
The second thing I recommend is to read self help books. You can get some of these for free through an app called “self help classics”
Third I recommend that you get the audio book called “The Strangest Secret” by Earl Nightingale. This really teaches us about how important it is to control our thoughts. Listen to it once a week for a few months and you will grow.
Good luck on this journey and realize it is a journey. The is never an end to self growth.
Have a great day!
